Volleyball Hosts UNF at 'The Nest' on Tuesday

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After opening the 2012 season with 13 road matches, the FGCU volleyball team will host its first home contest of the year when the Ospreys of North Florida visit ‘The Nest’ at Alico Arena. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
The Eagles, one of two A-Sun teams that are undefeated in conference play, enter the matchup with a 6-7 overall record (2-0 A-Sun), while the Ospreys are 8-6 overall on the season with a 0-2 A-Sun record. The Green and Blue lead the all-time series 11-2 and defeated UNF on three occasions in 2011. The Ospreys have not defeated the Eagles since their 3-0 sweep of FGCU during the 2005 season.
FGCU has six players that have registered between 40 and 100 kills so far this season, led by junior Christine Pinder’s (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS/Houston/Central Florida CC) team-leading 96. Sophomore Whitney Masters (Muncie, Ind./Wapahani HS) leads the team with 136 digs (2.96/set). The setting duo of sophomore Gigi Meyer (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) and junior Courtney Greenberg (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers HS/Juniata College) has run the FGCU offense, averaging 5.15 assists and 3.84 assists per set, respectively.

SCOUTING THE OSPREYS
UNF is looking to rebound from a 0-2 Atlantic Sun Conference opening weekend at Northern Kentucky and Lipscomb. Outside hitter Paige Pridgeon recorded double-doubles in both of those matches and so far in her career, she's logged double-doubles in 23 of the 45 A-Sun matches she's played.
In the last meeting between the Eagles and Ospreys at Alico Arena (Sept. 24, 2011), FGCU swept UNF 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-23) and were led by Jill Hopper (10 kills, 2 digs) and Olivia Mesner (10 kills, 1 block).
