Fleming stars as Eagles pound Cardinal Stritch

Fort Myers – Trish Fleming scored the first 11 points of the ball game, as the Eagles would roll to a 64-43 victory tonight over #16 Cardinal Stritch University.
Fleming was impressive all night as she knocked down 7 of 10 three-pointers and 11-21 from the field, good for 32 points.
More importantly, the Eagles held sharp shooter Sara Bayer to 4-7 shooting, and nine points. Bayer entered tonight’s contest hitting 17 of her last 23 three-point attempts. Tonight she had one.
Coach Smesko knew this would be a key match up, and Rebecca Stewart answered the challenge as she and the rest of the Eagles responded.
Freshman Point guard Megan Jones dished out a game high 11 assists, and Robyn Swain just missed a double double as she scored 8 points and pulled down 15 rebounds.
Cardinal Stritch was led by Sarah Gehring who scored 12 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Sarah Bayer came off the bench to add nine points.
The Eagles remain undefeated at Alico Arena (5-0) and up their record to 14-1. They travel to Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday to take on the Sailfish at 5:00 p.m.
