FGCU Women 12th in Top-25 Poll

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s basketball team remained No. 12 in the latest USA TODAY ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released Tuesday night. FGCU, which has won 13 consecutive games, defeated Palm Beach Atlantic 70-36 on Friday night. They improved to 25-1 with a 72-59 with at South Region foe Lynn University on Tuesday night. One of three remaining unbeaten teams in Division II, Washburn (25-0) received 25 of the 27 first-place votes to remain No. 1. The University of North Dakota - Grand Forks (28-0) received the other two first-place votes and holds the second spot. Drury (24-1), Glenville State (25-1), and Emporia State (22-3) round out this week’s top five. FGCU is one of five South Region teams among the top-15 ranked teams. Rollins (24-0), one of the three unbeaten teams, is ninth, followed by Delta State (23-2) at No. 10, and Henderson State (23-3) at No. 11. Fort Valley State (23-1) is No. 15 this week. The USA Today ESPN Board of Coaches is made up of 27 head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. The next NCAA Division II regional rankings will be released Wednesday.
