Schrader Named Honorable Mention All-America
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University women’s basketball standout Katie Schrader has been named an Honorable Mention All-America by the Women's Division II Bulletin, the monthly newsletter of Division II women's basketball. The Bulletin released its 2005-06 selections in the April edition.
Schrader (Fort Collins, Colo.) helped lead the Eagles to a 29-2 record as they advanced to the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament earlier this month. The 5-foot-11 forward led the team in scoring with 15.1 points per game and rebounding at 7.2 rebounds per game. She scored 20 or more points in nine games and had seven games with at least 10 rebounds. Schrader scored in double figures in 23 of 30 games with six double-doubles.
Her 453 points scored this season is the second-highest single-season total at FGCU while her 215 rebounds are the third most in a season. Schrader finished the season with a .551 field goal percentage that set a new single-season mark and was the 23rd best among all Division II players.
Schrader, a junior, becomes the first Eagles women’s basketball player to earn All-America recognition.
