Eagles Handle BCU, 76-59

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Four Eagles scored in double figures and FGCU held Bethune-Cookman without a field goal for the first five minutes of the game as the Eagles defeated BCU by the final of 76-59 on Friday night.

In the opening minutes, everything seemed to go right and the Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 10-0 lead over BCU. FGCU led by as many as 13 in the first half, but also as few as six in the waning minutes of the half. With four minutes on the clock, BCU cut into the FGCU lead on the heels of quick turnovers and fast break layups, but the Eagles handled the Wildcat run and went into halftime up by eight points.

In second half, FGCU continued to hold off Bethune Cookman. Late in the half, with the Wildcats losing key players to the bench for foul trouble, the Eagles blew the game open and never looked back, building a game-high lead of 19 points with 3:54 left in the game and handed BCU a 17-point loss, 76-59.

Adrianne McNally (Howell, Mich.) led all scorers with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field. McNally also finished with nine reboundsand six assists. Courtney Chilhil (Tipp City, Ohio) picked up a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Shannon Murphy (Brighton, Mich.) and Chelsea Lyles (Colorado Springs, Col.) both chipped in with 11 points.

The next game for the Lady Eagles is Tuesday, December 30 as the Cornell Big Red pay a visit to Fort Myers for a 5 p.m. tip-off at Alico Arena.
