Women's Basketball Slips To No. 5 Spot in Mid-Major Top 25

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team earned the No. 5 spot in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday evening. The Blue and Green had spent the past eight weeks in the top 3, including last week’s No. 2 ranking.

The Eagles, the nation’s leader in three-pointers made per game (11.6), are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in this week’s Mid-Major Top 25.

The Blue and Green, who picked up a vote in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll to rank No. 41 in the nation, are one of two one-loss team’s represented in the poll (Green Bay; 18-1).

The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.

The Eagles (15-1 overall, 8-1 A-Sun) will return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 29 when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. to take on the Bisons of Lipscomb (7-12 overall, 4-6 A-Sun) at Allen Arena. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
