Women's Basketball Moves To No. 4 Spot in Mid-Major Top 25

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team earned the No. 4 spot in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday evening. The Blue and Green ranked No. 5 last week, after spending the previous eight weeks in the top 3.

The Eagles, the nation’s leader in three-pointers made per game (11.2), are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in this week’s Mid-Major Top 25.

The Blue and Green, who picked up six votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll to rank No. 32 in the nation, are one of two one-loss team’s represented in the poll (Green Bay; 20-1).

The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.

The Eagles (17-1, 10-1 A-Sun) are back in action Saturday, February 5 when they host the Spartans of USC Upstate (12-9, 8-4 A-Sun) in the first game of a two-game homestand. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard live at www.FGCUAthletics.com.
