Eagles Drop to No. 6 Spot in Mid-Major Top 25
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team dropped three spots to the No. 6 position in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday evening. The Blue and Green ranked No. 3 last week and have grabbed a spot in the top three on 10 occasions during the 2010-11 campaign.
The Eagles, the nation’s leader in three-pointers made per game (10.8), are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in this week’s Mid-Major Top 25.
The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.
The Blue and Green (22-2, 15-2 A-Sun), who are one win away from securing at least a share of the A-Sun Regular Season crown, will return to the court on Thursday, Feb. 24 when they host the Dolphins of Jacksonville (13-14 overall, 8-10 A-Sun) at Alico Arena. Tip off is set for 5:15 p.m. Both games can be heard live at www.FGCUAthletics.com and watched live on ASun.TV.
