Women's Basketball Ranked No. 8 in Mid-Major Top 25

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team grabbed the No. 8 spot in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll. This marks the second consecutive week the Blue and Green have been ranked No. 8.

The Eagles, the nation’s leader in three-pointers made per game (11.0), are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in this week’s Mid-Major Top 25.

The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.

The Blue and Green (27-3, 17-3 A-Sun), who won the 2010-11 A-Sun regular season championship and secured a fourth consecutive WNIT automatic bid, will take on the Drexel Dragons from the Colonial Athletic Association in the first round of the 2011 Women's National Invitational Tournament on Friday, March 18 (7:05 p.m.) at Alico Arena.
