Women's Basketball Remains Ranked No. 3 in Mid-Major Top 25

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team earned the No. 3 spot, for the third consecutive week, in this week’s version of the CollegeInsider.com Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll that was released on Tuesday evening (Jan. 31).

Green Bay and Delaware are the two teams ranked higher than FGCU in this week’s poll. FGCU trails Delaware by 42 points for the No. 2 slot, for the second week in a row.

The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.

The Green and Blue are one of two Atlantic Sun Conference team’s represented in this week’s Top 25. Stetson is ranked No. 21.

In FGCU’s last outing (Jan. 28), three players scored in double figures as the Eagles defeated a scrappy Kennesaw State squad, 58-51, to pick up their 11th consecutive victory and clinch the program’s first-ever spot in the A-Sun Tournament.

FGCU (19-2, 11-0 A-Sun) will return to the court on Thursday, Feb. 2, when they head to Jacksonville, Fla. to face the UNF Ospreys (8-14, 5-6 A-Sun). Tip off at UNF Arena is set for 7 p.m.
