FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast women's basketball standout Sarah Hansen (McKean, Pa./General McLane HS) continues to collect postseason honors, earning Full Court Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention accolades. The redshirt-sophomore was the lone player from the Atlantic Sun Conference to earn honors from Full Court.

A Capital 1 Academic All-District 4 first team selection, Hansen was also chosen as the conference’s Scholar Athlete of the Year and MVP of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.

Hansen was a dominant performer this year, leading the Eagles (29-3) to a NCAA Tournament appearance and also the program’s first A-Sun Championship in their first year of postseason eligibility. The McKean, Pa. native also was instrumental in guiding the Green and Blue to a second straight Atlantic Sun regular season title, which was also the program’s third in five years, and the first undefeated A-Sun season since 1995-96

FGCU’s fifth (first unanimous) Atlantic Sun All-Conference first team selection in program history, Hansen followed up her second team selection last season by averaging a team-best 14.3 points and 6.3 rebounds and ranking second on the Eagles in steals (2.0) and blocks (23). Hansen, who sits seventh all-time in scoring in program history with 884 points, finished the season ranked in the top-15 in the A-Sun in six categories (points, rebounds, FG Pct., FT Pct., steals, blocks). The redshirt-sophomore scored in double figures 25 times this season, leading the Eagles in scoring in 15 contests, including eight of the last 10 games.

Below is what FullCourt.com said about Hansen
Sarah Hansen, 5-10, redshirt sophomore, Florida Gulf Coast. Another young player with tremendous potential, Hansen, a unanimous choice for the All-Atlantic Sun first team, averaged a team-best 14.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season. Hansen, a chemistry major, also excels in the classroom, earning the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors after maintaining a 3.95 grade-point average.

The talented sophomore, who shoots an impressive 52.4 percent from the field, led the Eagles to conference regular-season and tournament titles and an NCAA Tournament appearance in the school's first year of Division I eligibility. Though the 12th-seeded Eagles ultimately lost to No. 5-seed St. Bonaventure, 65-72, in a come-from-behind overtime thriller in the tournament's first round, with talent like Hansen's, this won't be the last we'll be seeing of the Eagles, who finish their season at 29-3 (a program record for wins), and a perfect 18-0 run through the Atlantic Sun regular season.
