FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team dropped one spot to the No. 11 position in the 11th edition of the 2012-13 CollegeInsider.com Women's Basketball Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday night. The Eagles were ranked No. 10 in last week’s poll.

Delaware (11-3) along with Gonzaga (13-5), Toledo (13-2), Green Bay (12-2) and Chattanooga (12-3) hold the top five spots in the poll.

The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast.

The Eagles (13-5, 6-0 A-Sun), winners of 24 consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference regular season games and the new NCAA Division I record holder for three-pointers in a single game (22), are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in the Top 25, while Stetson received 21 votes.

In the Green and Blue’s last game (Jan. 14), the FGCU ‘Big 3’ of redshirt junior Sarah Hansen (McKean, Pa./General McLane HS) and seniors Brittany Kennedy (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark HS/Oregon State) and Joyce Iamstrong (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Fractional South HS/Jefferson College) combined to score 57 points as the Eagles shot 53.1 percent from the field in a 77-54 A-Sun victory over USC Upstate at the Hodge Center. FGCU’s trio outscored Upstate 57-54 and accounted for 74 percent of the team’s scoring on the night.

The Green and Blue, who have made at least one three-pointer in 215 consecutive contests and 327 of 328 games in program history, will be back in action on Saturday, January 19 when they host the A-Sun’s newest member Northern Kentucky (6-8, 3-2 A-Sun) at Alico Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
