FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team moved up two spots into the No. 8 position in the 16th edition of the 2012-13 CollegeInsider.com Women's Basketball Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday evening. The Eagles were ranked No. 10 in last week’s poll.

Delaware (22-3), ranked No. 18 in the AP Top 25 and No. 19 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, along with Green Bay (21-2), Gonzaga (22-5), Toledo (22-2) and Chattanooga (22-3) hold the top five spots in the poll.

The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast.

The Eagles (22-5, 15-0 A-Sun), winners of 33 consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference regular season games, are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in the top 25. Stetson received 42 votes to pick up the No. 28 spot.

In the FGCU’s last game (Feb. 18), redshirt senior Betsy Adams (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes HS/Valpo) scored her 1,000th career-point as the Eagles used a solid second half performance to pick up a 68-53 win at NKU. The win extended the Eagles’ current winning streak to 16 games and gave the Green and Blue their 36th straight A-Sun conference victory overall (including the conference tournament) and 33rd consecutive regular season conference win.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, February 23, when they travel to DeLand to battle A-Sun rival Stetson (19-7, 12-3 A-Sun). Tipoff at the Edmunds Center, where the Hatters are 12-0 this season and have won 16 consecutive games, is set for 1 p.m. and the game can be seen live on ASun.TV. A win over Stetson on Saturday afternoon will guarantee the Green and Blue at least a share of the A-Sun Regular Season crown.
