FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU women’s basketball team received one vote to rank No. 38 in this week’s AP Top 25 that was released on Monday, Feb. 25.

This marks the first time this season that the Eagles have garnered a vote in the national poll. The last time the Green and Blue, who rank second in the nation in three-pointers made per game (9.2), received a vote in the AP Poll was on Mar. 12, 2012 (13 votes to rank No. 29).

In their last outing (Feb. 23), the Eagles defeated conference rival Stetson, 72-55, to win their 17th straight game and snap SU’s 16-game home winning streak, which was the fifth longest streak in the nation. The Green and Blue have won 37 straight A-Sun games overall (including the conference tournament) and 34 consecutive regular season conference contests. FGCU’s 34 consecutive conference victories rank as the second longest streak in the country behind defending national champion Baylor.

The Eagles, who recently won their third straight A-Sun Regular Season title, will return home for the final two games of the conference regular season. The Green and Blue will host Mercer on Feb. 28, before welcoming Kennesaw State to ‘The Nest’ on Senior Day (Mar. 2).

FGCU, the No. 1 seed in the 2013 A-Sun Tournament, will play their quarterfinal game on Wednesday, Mar. 6. Tip-off times are still to be determined. FGCU Athletics is now offering ticket packages for the conference tournament at Mercer University in Macon, Ga.
