MONTEVALLO, AL - Junior guard Candy Myers scored a career-high 24 points, including six 3-point baskets to lead Florida Gulf Coast University to an 85-59 victory over the University of Montevallo at the Student Activity Center Wednesday afternoon.
FGCU (11-5) used a 14-4 run late in the first half to build a 46-35 halftime lead. The Eagles hit 64% from the field, including 6-of-7 from beyond the arc, in the final 20 minutes to pull away for their third straight win
For the game, the Eagles knocked down 14-of-23 from the perimeter (61 percent) and converted 58 percent from the field. Myers has now hit at least one 3-pointer in 23 consecutive games, dating back to January 7 of last year.
Junior guard Ebonie Halliburton added 15 points and senior forward Andrea Clarke 10 points for FGCU. Courtney Shields led Montevallo (8-5) with a game-high 25 points.
FGCU concludes its short three-game road swing at Florida Memorial on Friday, January 14 at 7 p.m.
