FORT MYERS, Fla. – Senior guard Ebonie Halliburton scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Florida Gulf Coast University cruised to a 78-38 win over the University of Puerto Rico-Cayey in NCAA Division II women’s basketball action at Alico Arena Wednesday night.
Halliburton led four players in double figures for FGCU (4-0), which scored a school-record for points in a 109-34 win over UPR-Cayey on Tuesday. Junior forward Alex Nelson had 12 points while senior guard Candy Myers and junior forward Jen Conely had 10 points apiece. All 10 players in uniform reached the scoring column for the Eagles, who lead 41-19 at the half.
FGCU, which is beginning the season with 17 straight NCAA Division II regional games, will host Kentucky State, a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Alico Arena.
