NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Four Eagles scored in double figures, led by Kelsey Jacobson's game-high 17 points, and FGCU forced Lipscomb into 27 turnovers as the Eagles defeated the Lady Bisons by the final of 81-51 on Saturday afternoon at Allen Arena.
With the win, FGCU improves to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the A-Sun, while Lipscomb falls to 2-10 overall and 0-3 in conference.
In the opening minutes, the teams went back and forth and the game was tied 21-21 with less than six minutes remaining. FGCU then went on a 15-6 run over the final 5:47 of the first half and took a nine point lead (36-27) into halftime.
In second half, FGCU continued to increase their lead and dominate the Lady Bisons as they quickly went on a 20-9 run over the first 9:46 of the second half to increase their lead to 56-36. The Eagles then blew the game open, building a game-high lead of 32 points with 43 seconds left in the game and handed Lipscomb a 30-point loss, 81-51.
Jacobson (Barnesville, Minn.) led all scorers with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field. Jacobson also finished with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Courtney Chilhil (Tipp City, Ohio) finished with 12 points and four steals. Chelsea Lyles (Colorado Springs, Col.) registered 11 points and six rebounds. Brittany Brown (Flint, Mich.) chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals.
The next game for the Lady Eagles is Monday, January 5 when they face Belmont. Tip-off for the contest is set for 6 p.m.
