FORT MYERS, Fla. - Four Eagles scored in double figures and Kristina Mingos grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds as FGCU defeated Stetson by the final of 77-66 on Monday night.
In the opening minutes, everything seemed to go right and the Lady Eagles jumped out to a 25-6 lead with 9:23 remaining. FGCU led by as many as 21 in the first half, but went the locker room at halftime up by 18 points.
In second half, FGCU continued to hold off Stetson. The Hatters tried to get back into the contest by turning up their defensive pressure and Stetson eventually cut the FGCU lead down to nine points, but the Eagles held the Hatters off to win their eighth conference game of the season by the final score of 77-66.
Chelsea Lyles (Colorado Springs, Col.) scored a game-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from behind the arc. Adrianne McNally (Howell, Mich.) nearly picked up the first triple-double with 15 points, nine assists, and eight boards. Kristina Mingos (Mission Hills, Kan.), in only her second career start, grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Kelsey Jacobson (Barnesville, Minn.) chipped in with 10 points.
The next game for the Lady Eagles is Thursday, January 29 as the Lipscomb Bison pay a visit to Fort Myers for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Alico Arena.
