FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team earned the No. 3 spot in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday evening. FGCU came in at the No. 3 spot for the third consecutive week.
FGCU received three of the 31 first-place votes, while Green Bay and Bowling Green, the only squads ranked higher than the Eagles, picked up 17 and 11 first-place votes, respectively.
The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.
The Blue and Green are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in this week’s Top 25. ETSU and Jacksonville are receiving votes in the poll.
The Eagles (7-0, 2-0 A-Sun) will be back in action at Alico Arena to face in-state rival FIU on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 7:05 p.m., before hosting the Hoosiers of Indiana on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the back-end of a doubleheader after the men’s team hosts N.C. Central.
