Hansen Snags Second A-Sun Newcomer of the Week Award

FORT MYERS, Fla. - After leading the Eagles to another undefeated week with wins against conference foes Lipscomb and Belmont, redshirt-freshman Sarah Hansen (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane HS) earned A-Sun Newcomer of the Week honors, for the second time this season, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

For the week, Hansen averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks, while shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 87.5 from the charity stripe.

In FGCU's 62-51 win at Lipscomb, Hansen finished with a game-high 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, including hitting 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. In a 67-50 win at Belmont in the CSS Game of the Week, the chemistry major finished with a game-high 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field, including hitting 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Hansen also added four rebounds and four steals in 30 minutes.

The Eagles (17-1, 10-1 A-Sun) are back in action Saturday, February 5 when they host the Spartans of USC Upstate (12-9, 8-4 A-Sun) in the first game of a two-game homestand. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard live at www.FGCUAthletics.com.
