Jackson Picks Up A-Sun Newcomer of the Week

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Junior Nicoya Jackson (Houston, Texas/Cypress Springs HS/Southwestern Christian) led the Eagles to a pair of wins last week, and for her performances, she claimed her first A-Sun Newcomer of the Week honor, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

For the week, the criminal justice major averaged 11.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in just 21.0 minutes.

In the Blue and Green’s 60-51 win over Campbell on Saturday night, Jackson chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds. Just two days later, she posted a 13-point, seven-rebound and three-steal performance in FGCU’s 64-59 win over Stetson.

The Blue and Green (22-2, 15-2 A-Sun), who are one win away from securing at least a share of the A-Sun Regular Season crown, will return to the court on Thursday, Feb. 24 when they host the Dolphins of Jacksonville (13-14 overall, 8-10 A-Sun) at Alico Arena.
