FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team earned the No. 6 spot in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday evening. The Eagles were ranked No. 8 in last week’s mid-major poll.
Green Bay, Delaware, Gonzaga, Princeton and Toledo are the top five teams in the poll.
The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.
FGCU is the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in this week’s Top 25.
In the Eagles last game (Dec. 3), senior Kelsey Jacobson (Barnesville, Minn./Moorhead HS) drained eight three-pointers, tying the FGCU all-time single game record, to lead the Eagles (5-1, 1-0 A-Sun) to a blowout win over ETSU in the 2011-12 Atlantic Sun opener at Alico Arena.
The Eagles return to the court Thursday, Dec. 8 for a non-conference contest at UCF. Gametime is set for 7 p.m.
