Second FGCU Coaches Show Set for Wednesday Night

FORT MYERS, Fla. – First-year FGCU men’s basketball head coach Andy Enfield and women’s basketball head coach Karl Smesko will sit down with host Gary Sharp on Wednesday night for the second rendition of the FGCU Coaches Show starting at 5:30 p.m.

The hour-long show can be heard live for free on via Stretch Internet. Sharp will be on the air with coach Enfield from 5:30-6:00 p.m. and they will be joined by freshman Bernard Thompson (Conyers, Ga./Rockdale County HS). Coach Smesko and senior Courtney Chihil (Tipp City, Ohio/Alter HS) will be on the air with Sharp for the final 30 minutes.

Eagles Club members will get the chance to ask questions during the show. If time permits, questions emailed to Director of Sports Information Patrick Pierson,, will also be asked during the show.

Now a month into his first season as head coach, Enfield and the Eagles picked up a huge win over ETSU in its Atlantic Sun opener at Alico Arena on Dec. 3. FGCU’s 72-63 win over the Bucs, who were predicted to finish second in the A-Sun preseason poll, was fueled by a 20-point night from junior Sherwood Brown (Orlando, Fla./Olympia HS). The Eagles (3-6, 1-0 A-Sun) have played six of their nine games on the road, falling by a combined 22 points with losses at TCU, SMU, Maryland, Miami and Nebraska all coming by 10 points or less.

The women’s program has have won six consecutive games and currently lead the nation in three-point field goals per game (13.0). The Green and Blue, led by senior Nicoya Jackson's (Houston, Texas/Cypress Springs HS/Southwestern Christian) 14.3 points per game, have picked up huge non-conference wins over defending Big Ten champ Michigan State and reigning Conference USA champ UCF so far this season. Ranked No. 6 in last week's Mid-Major Top 25, FGCU leads the A-Sun in 12 statistical categories and owns the A-Sun's best overall record at 6-1.
