FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU women’s basketball team received 16 votes to rank No. 31 in this week's USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches’ Poll that was released on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

This marks 12th time in program history that the Eagles have earned votes in the national poll. FGCU, who leads the nation in three-pointers made per game (11.9), picked up six votes to rank No. 31 in last week’s poll.

In their last outing on Saturday, Jan. 21, senior Courtney Chihil (Tipp City, Ohio/Alter HS) scored a game-high 15 points as the Green and Blue snapped Stetson’s 12-game home winning streak by picking up an important, 59-55, win over the Hatters at the Edmunds Center. Senior Kelsey Jacobson (Barnesville, Minn./Moorhead HS), the active NCAA leader and A-Sun all-time leader in career three-pointers made (308), finished with 10 points, three boards and a pair of assists. Redshirt-sophomore Sarah Hansen (McKean, Pa./General McLane HS) added nine points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal.

FGCU (17-2, 9-0 A-Sun) will return to the court on Thursday, Jan. 26, when they host the Mercer Bears (3-17, 1-8 A-Sun). Tip off at Alico Arena is set for 7:05 p.m.
