FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU women’s basketball team received 17 votes to rank No. 28 in this week's USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches’ Poll that was released on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

This marks 17th time in program history and the eighth straight week that the Eagles have earned votes in the national poll. FGCU, who leads the nation in three-pointers made per game (10.9), earned 24 votes to grab the No. 29 spot in last week’s poll.

In their last outing (Feb. 25) redshirt-sophomore Sarah Hansen (McKean, Pa./General McLane HS) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Eagles defeated A-Sun foe ETSU, 71-64, at the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center to secure a perfect A-Sun regular season. The Green and Blue secured the first undefeated A-Sun season since 1995-96 when FIU achieved the feat and only the third occurrence in league history. FGCU’s 18 A-Sun victories also tied the 2009-10 ETSU Lady Bucs squad in the Atlantic Sun record books for the most conference wins in a season.

The No. 1 seed in the 2012 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, FGCU will return to the court on Wednesday, Feb. 29 when they take on No. 8 seed ETSU (8-21, 7-11 A-Sun) at Mercer’s University Center in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 Atlantic Sun Tournament. Tip is set for 12:00 p.m. ET and the game can be seen live on ESPN3.com. The game can also be heard live on ESPN 770AM in Fort Myers or online at www.770ESPN.com with David Moulton and Mark Miller on the call.
