FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU women’s basketball team received 23 votes to rank No. 27 in this week's USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches’ Poll that was released on Monday, March. 12.

This marks 19th time in program history and the 10th straight week that the Eagles have earned votes in the national poll. FGCU, who leads the nation in three-pointers made per game (10.8), earned 29 votes to grab the No. 26 spot in last week’s poll.

In their last outing (Mar. 3), FGCU held Stetson to their lowest point total of the season (39 points) en route to winning their first Atlantic Sun Championship in their first-ever appearance in the A-Sun Tournament with a huge 67-39 win over the second-seeded Hatters at Mercer’s University Center. The win, which was the Green and Blue’s 21th consecutive, helped FGCU become just the second team to post an A-Sun undefeated regular season and win the Championship Title (FIU; 1993).

FGCU will learn its postseason fate tonight. The Eagles will hold a NCAA Selection Show Celebration party beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Alico Arena. Fans are invited to join Coach Karl Smesko and the team at this free event as the Eagles find out their NCAA Tournament destination. Generously sponsored by the FGCU Foundation, doors will open at 6 p.m. and the Selection Show will be broadcast live on ESPN at 7 p.m.
