FORT MYERS, Fla. – Redshirt senior Betsy Adams (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes HS/Valpo) scored a career-high 25 points in FGCU’s 97-60 win at ETSU and for her performance, she claimed College Sports Madness A-Sun Player of the Week honors on Monday evening (Jan. 14).
Adams, a transfer from Valpo, earned CSM A-Sun Player of the Week accolades after she finished with 25 points in just 14 minutes on 9-of-14 shooting from the field and 7-of-12 from behind the arc. The seven makes from long distance from Adams rank her tied for fifth place in the FGCU record books.
Adams’ seven triples led the Green and Blue, who nailed 22 three-pointers to set the NCAA Division I record 14 months after draining 21 trifectas in a win over Webber International (Nov. 28, 2011; 106-27) that placed them tied for first place all-time with New Mexico State. FGCU’s 22 three-point makes were also a program and Atlantic Sun Conference best, as the Eagles made 10 treys in the first half and 12 in the second.
The Green and Blue, who have made at least one three-pointer in 215 consecutive contests and 327 of 328 games in program history, will be back in action on Saturday, January 19 when they host the A-Sun’s newest member Northern Kentucky (6-8, 3-2 A-Sun) at Alico Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
