FGCU Women's Basketball Banquet to be Held on April 10

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Coming off the program’s 10th 20+ win season and a second consecutive undefeated Atlantic Sun Conference regular season, the FGCU women’s basketball team will celebrate its successful year and fourth A-Sun Regular Season title by holding its annual postseason banquet on Wednesday, April 10.

The banquet will be held at the Bell Tower Crown Plaza on the corner of Route 41 and Daniels Drive in Fort Myers and will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and an autograph session.

Full table reservations are $270 and include eight attendees plus a player, coach or FGCU administrator at the table. A half table reservation is $150 for four attendees and a player or coach at the table. Individual reservations are $30 for adults and $20 for children (12 & under). Dress attire in business casual.

Head coach Karl Smesko, the 2013 College Sports Madness A-Sun and Mid-Major Coach of the Year, led his team to a regular season conference crown for the fourth time in the program’s existence as his squad amassed a second consecutive perfect 18-0 conference mark earning him Coach of the Year honors from the conference for the third straight year (fourth in five seasons). The Green and Blue, who have the most wins (27) of any of the 13 Division I institutions in Florida, have won 13+ A-Sun games in six straight seasons, are 100-12 in conference play over the last six years and have won 70 of their last 76 Atlantic Sun regular season games (over the past four seasons).

The Eagles, who finished the 2012-13 campaign with a 27-7 overall and earned the program’s fifth automatic bid to the WNIT after securing the 10th 21-plus win season in the 11-year program history. FGCU will finish the season ranked in the top 10 in the nation in five categories, including leading the nation in three-point field goals made per game (9.4) for the second year in a row.
