FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University cross country teams will travel to Melbourne, Fla. Saturday morning to compete in the Florida Tech Invitational.  The men will begin the 8K event at 8:00 am at Markham Park.  At 8:45, the women’s 5K race will begin.  There is no limit to the number of runners from each team that can compete in this event.  The top five times from each squad will compromise the team’s score.

The women’s team is coming off of a fifth place finish last weekend in the Nova Southeastern Sharks Invitational.  Freshmen runners Abbie Zaspel and Casey Hasten finished 13th and 15th respectively.  On the men’s side, junior Mike Harney led the men with a 10th place finish with a 5K time of 17:19.  Freshman Kyle Brunette finished in the Top 20 as the Eagles came in fourth place.

Saturday’s event will mark the second of three straight weekend invitationals for the Eagles.  Next weekend, FGCU will travel to Gainesville, Fla. for the Gator Invitational
