@FGCU_XC: Overview Of The 2013 Women's Newcomers
FORT MYERS, Fla. – With the 2013 FGCU women’s cross country season officially getting underway this weekend, FGCUAthletics.com previews the five newcomers to the team, all of whom are freshmen. More information about each runner can be found on their respective bio pages.
Head coach Cassandra Goodson has two scholarship runners and three walk-ons out of the five new runners for the 2013 season.
“We have a pretty large group of athletes that are back from last season,” Goodson said. “This was a very important recruiting class for us in terms of not only finding the best talent out there, but also identifying the type of individuals who fit into our program. I am thrilled with the incoming class. There is a good amount of talent, and I look forward to supporting all of our student-athletes as they pursue their athletic and academic goals.”

The FGCU women’s cross country team begins its 2013 season Saturday at the Westminster Academy Invite in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., at 5:30 p.m. More information will be posted on FGCUAthletics.com on Friday.
Hometown: Mount Laurel, N.J.
High School: Lenape
Four-year cross country and track letterwinner … named a three-time All-American in the 4x1 mile, distance medley relay and 4x800 … all-county and all-conference selection all four years in cross country … all-county pick all four years as well in track … captain of her cross country and track teams from 2011-13 … coached by Jack Walsh and Gerald Richardson … principle’s honor roll member each marking period of her high school career.
Born on June 14, 1995 … pre-health/science major … daughter of Amy and Robert Restivo … mom, Amy, ran cross country for St. Thomas University … favorite athlete is Gabby Douglas … favorite sport to watch is basketball … favorite sports movie is The Sandlot and favorite book is The Kite Runner … would like to meet Beyonce … was born with Spina Bifida Occulta … maintained a 5.1 GPA for her four years of high school … chose FGCU over High Point University because she wanted to return to Florida where she was born … aspires to be an occupational therapist.

Letterwinner in cross country … was a two-time conference champion … also a three-time state qualifier … two times was a conference runner-up … also lettered in track and field … was a two-time conference runner-up in the 3,200 meter and two-time regional qualifier in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter run … holds the school record in the 3,200, 5K and 2,000 steeplechase … coached by John Rothrock.
Born on Jan. 10, 1995 … exercise science major … daughter of Staci Farrow … member of the National Honor Society … graduated Summa Cum Laude … father wrestled collegiately for one year … favorite athlete is Michael Phelps … favorite sport to watch is track and field, and her favorite sports movie is Prefontaine … would like to meet trainer Jillian Michaels … is obsessed with ice cream … aspires to be a personal coach and trainer … chose FGCU over several Division-I schools because it was a perfect fit.

Was named a Wendy’s High School Heisman Memorial Trophy Award winner for the state of Florida … the award honors the nation's most esteemed high-school senior men and women for excellence in academics, athletics, and community involvement and is given out annually to State Winners, who then proceed to the national level … cross country letterwinner at Colonial High School … coached by Rene Plasencia.
Born June 8, 1995 … double major in accounting and finance with a business minor … daughter of Jennifer Cooper … favorite athlete is Lolo Jones … favorite sport to watch is football … lists Running Brave as her favorite sports movie … aspires to be a CFO … chose FGCU over FAU and FIU, among others.
