Women's Cross Country Finishes 6th at FSU Invite

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s cross-country team finished sixth overall at the 5k FSU Invitational Mountain on Saturday morning. The Eagles finished 6th of 10.

The Eagles team score of 161 placed the team in 6th in their second meet of the season. The host (Florida State) took the event with a team score of 31.

Freshman Angela Hegge (Odessa, Fla.) led the Eagles, Hegge placed 28th with a time of 19:40.12, which is the third fastest 5K time in school history. Cadie Sly (Loxahatchee, Fla.) placed 39th with a time of 19:56, a mark that is the 4th best in school history. Megan Thies time of 19:57 was good for 41st place and the fifth fastest time in school history.

Due to a scoring error, complete individual results are not available at this time and will be posted as they come in.

Finishing second behind the Florida State was the University of Tampa with 49 points. University of North Florida took third with 98 points, Florida Atlantic came in at fourth with 132, and Florida Southern rounded out the top five with 147.

Next week, the men's and women's Florida Gulf Coast cross country teams will travel to Pensacola to compete in one of the West Florida Invitational on Saturday September 19th at 7:30am.
