Women's Cross Country Takes 9th at Atlantic Sun Conference Championships

MACON, Ga. – The Eagles concluded the 2008 season with a 9th place finish at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships on Saturday.  Megan Thies led the way with a 19:10.39 (26th), while Michelle Kuhnen took 42nd (19:57.77).  Christine Baird took 48th (20:30.00), with Marie Scarpantonio less than a second behind (20:30.63, 49th).  Taylor Cooke rounded out the scoring runners for FGCU with a 59th place finish (21:17.32).

Head coach Cassandra Goodson said "They were all very excited.  They all improved as the year went on and they are very proud of that.  I’m excited to see the improvements that the entire team made as the year went on."

Belmont won the team competition, finishing ahead of Jacksonville and Kennesaw State.  Brittany Thune, a junior from Belmont, won the individual title with a time of 17:39.06.
