The FGCU cross country teams concluded their spring season at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla. The Blue and Green competing against a number of quality programs, including Villanova, defending Cross Country National Champions.

The FGCU cross country teams travelled to the University of Central Florida for the UCF Invitational, competing against solid competition, including the University of Florida, defending Indoor National Champions. The Eagles performed well, placing in the top ten in four distance events.

The FGCU cross country teams travelled down to the University of Miami for the Hurricane Invitational, competing against many major universities from around the country. The Eagles performed well, winning four different heats in the distance events.

FGCU cross country will be hosting a 5K run on campus open to members of the community, with all of the proceeds will go to the FGCU cross country program. The race will be held on Saturday, February 13, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the FGCU Recreation Fields.

Of the 344 Division I Women's Cross Country teams only 21 are cross country-only programs; all others sponsor indoor and/or outdoor track and field. Based on the team average times for the 5K, FGCU's women's team ranked second among those 21 programs, behind only Northwestern University.

FGCU took part in the 2009 Atlantic Sun Cross Country Championships on Saturday, with the women placing seventh and the men finishing eighth. The women improved two places over last year's ninth-place finish, while the men dropped one spot compared to last year's seventh-place finish.

At the FGCU Cross Country Invitational on Friday, freshman Leigh Mumford gave the Eagles a sweep of the individual wins for the day, helping her earn her first career Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

The Florida Gulf Coast University cross country teams certainly seemed to enjoy running in the school's first-ever home meet, held Friday evening at Estero Community Park. Leigh Mumford won the women's race, while Jonathan Lanning won the men's race, leading the men's team to a first place overall finish.

The Florida Gulf Coast University cross country teams will do something tomorrow that they have never done before: host a meet. After traveling to various locations for the program's first 50 meets over the course of seven plus seasons, the Eagles will finally get to experience a home meet.

The FGCU cross country teams participated in the Sodexho Stetson Hatter Invitational on Friday evening. The men finished seventh out of 18 schools, while the women finished eighth out of 20 schools. The races were held at the Sperling Sports Complex in DeLand, Florida.

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's cross country team earned their first team victory of 2009, edging out Nova Southeastern by a single point, 35-36, at the flrunners.com Invitational in Titusville, Florida. The women had a strong showing as well, placing third overall amongst the ten participating schools.

The FGCU cross country teams participated in the 21st Annual Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, on Friday evening. The women finished ninth out of 23 schools while the men finished 11th out of 18 schools.

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's and women's cross country teams will soon be heading out to Gainesville for the 21st Annual Mountain Dew Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida. The meet takes place on Friday, with the women's 5k race starting at 6:30 pm and the men capping off the evening with an 8k race slated to start at 7 pm. The meet will be held on the UF golf course, which is located on campus.
