ORLANDO, Fla. – The FGCU cross country teams travelled to the University of Central Florida for the UCF Invitational, competing against solid competition, including the University of Florida, defending Indoor National Champions. The Eagles performed well, placing in the top ten in four distance events.
Shannon Compher (Oviedo, Fla.) ran a 4:48 in the 1500m, placing sixth. For Compher, it was a personal record, improving on her previous best by over 10 seconds. Taylor Cooke (Homosassa, Fla.) ran well in the 5000m, placing ninth.
For the men, Jonathan Lanning (Sarasota, Fla.) earned a sixth-place finish in the 1500m, while Dillon McGee (Indialantic, Fla.) took ninth in the 5000m.
“I felt like the UCF meet was a good experience for our team,” said head coach Cassandra Harbin. “It was great to see them compete in the same field as programs such as Florida.”
