The 2013 FGCU women's cross country team welcomes five newcomers to its roster, all of whom are freshmen.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – With the 2013 FGCU women’s cross country season officially getting underway this weekend, FGCUAthletics.com previews the five newcomers to the team, all of whom are freshmen. More information about each runner can be found on their respective bio pages.

Head coach Cassandra Goodson has two scholarship runners and three walk-ons out of the five new runners for the 2013 season.

“We have a pretty large group of athletes that are back from last season,” Goodson said. “This was a very important recruiting class for us in terms of not only finding the best talent out there, but also identifying the type of individuals who fit into our program. I am thrilled with the incoming class. There is a good amount of talent, and I look forward to supporting all of our student-athletes as they pursue their athletic and academic goals.”

The FGCU women’s cross country team begins its 2013 season Saturday at the Westminster Academy Invite in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., at 5:30 p.m. More information will be posted on FGCUAthletics.com on Friday.

Amanda Restivo
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Mount Laurel, N.J.
High School: Lenape

Four-year cross country and track letterwinner … named a three-time All-American in the 4x1 mile, distance medley relay and 4x800 … all-county and all-conference selection all four years in cross country … all-county pick all four years as well in track … captain of her cross country and track teams from 2011-13 … coached by Jack Walsh and Gerald Richardson … principle’s honor roll member each marking period of her high school career.

Letterwinner in cross country … was a two-time conference champion … also a three-time state qualifier … two times was a conference runner-up … also lettered in track and field … was a two-time conference runner-up in the 3,200 meter and two-time regional qualifier in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter run … holds the school record in the 3,200, 5K and 2,000 steeplechase … coached by John Rothrock.
