As the spring season winds down, the FGCU women’s golf team is gearing up for the 2013 Atlantic Sun Championship. Making their fifth trip to the conference event, the Eagles will have their sights set on the program’s first-ever championship as play opens on Monday morning at the Jekyll Island Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Ga.

Sophomore Chelsea Guoynes (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City Central HS) finished in a tie for 13th while helping the Eagles to a seventh-place finish at the 2013 UC Spring Invitational (Mar. 22-24) to earn A-Sun Women's Golfer of the Week honors, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Due to severe weather, the final round at the 2013 UC Spring Invitational at the Plantation Inn Golf Resort and Spa was cancelled and the round two results will stand as the final results. The FGCU women’s golf team finishes in a tie for 7th place in the 17-team field. The Eagles moved back to seventh after being in a tie for 5th place after day one.

Led by sophomore Georgia Price’s (Winchester, England/Fort Myers HS) three-over par 75, the FGCU women’s golf team sits in a tie for 5thplace on the 17-team leaderboard after day one at the 2013 UC Spring Invitational at the Plantation Inn Golf Resort and Spa Friday afternoon.

Two days after returning home from the Ocala Spring Invitational, the FGCU women’s golf team will return to the course on Friday morning, March 22nd, as the UC Spring Invitational, hosted by the University of Cincinnati, begins at the Plantation Inn Golf Resort and Spa in Crystal River, Fla. The three-day tournament gets underway on Friday morning and will conclude with a final round on Sunday.

Following Tuesday’s final round at the 2013 Ocala Spring Invitational at the Juliette Falls Golf Course, the FGCU women’s golf team placed seventh in the 14-team field. Led by sophomore Chelsea Guoynes, (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City Central HS) who finished in 11th place individually.
