FGCU Women's Golf Places 4th at Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s garnered their third straight top five finish with a fourth place showing in the McAmis Memorial Invitational hosted by Tusculum College, at the Link Hills Country Club. The University of Central Arkansas won the team title with a new tournament record score of 615, 18 shots better than runner-up Pfeiffer University (633). West Florida (642) shot a 309 in the final round to overtake FGCU (647) for third place by five shots. Catawba (670) finished fifth. UCA senior Kate Eck fired a tournament-best 72 to claim medalist honors. Eck’s final-round and two-day 150 was one off the tournament records of 71 and 149. UCA beat the tournament team record by 14 strokes. Freshman Heather Hagerman (New Port Richey, Fla.) continued her streak of top 10 finishes by shooting a 159 (78-81) to finish 10th. Freshman Natalie Lueck (Beaver Falls, Penn.) and junior Brittany Bertilson (Austin, MN) placed 14th and 15th respectively. Lueck shot a 160 (77-83) while Bertilson recorded a 162 (80-82). Freshman Hallie Schweitzer (Flower Mound, Tex.) shot a 166 (84-82) to finish 30th. FGCU completed the regular season. Six teams and three individuals will be selected for the NCAA Division II South Regional tournament scheduled for May 2-3 in Lakeland. The field will be announced on April 25.
