Hagerman Takes Second At UCF Invite
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s golf team finished tied for 10th as a team in the University of Central Florida Invite over the weekend with a two-day final score of 633.
Sophomore Heather Hagerman (New Port Richey, Fla.), an individual qualifier to the NCAA South Region Championships, led the Eagles with a score of 144. Hagerman finished second behind Florida International’s Susan Nam who had a final score of 142. Hagerman shot a 73 on day one and improved to a 71 on day two. She finished 1 under in par 3 scoring and finished even in par four scoring. Overall, Hagerman collected 29 pars to lead all golfers.
“Heather is one of the most mentally tough players that I have ever coached," said head coach Holly Vaughn. “Her mental consistency shows in her superior scoring time and time again.”
Second for the Eagles was freshman Cassie Sherron (Cape Coral, Fla.) who shot 159 overall to finish 39th. Sherron posted an 83 on day one and improved to a 76 on day two of the Invite. Senior Brittany Bertilson (Austin, Minn.) finished with a score of 160. Sophomore Natalie Lueck (Beaver Falls, Penn.) shot a 170 and freshman Ashley Wright (Wycoff, N.J.) finished with a 186.
The Eagles next compete in the Florida Southern College Spring Invite in
Lakeland, Fla. February 25-26.
