FORT MYERS, Fla. – For the second time this spring season, sophomore Briana Carlson’s (Inverness, Fla./Citrus HS) play on the golf course earned her Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Week honors, announced by the league office on Wednesday. In her most recent outing, Carlson placed fourth on the 98-player leaderboard at last weekend’s James Madison/Eagle Landing Invitational.
Finishing fourth overall, Carlson carded two sub-par rounds over the three days and held a final tournament score of 217 (70(-2)-76-71(-1)). The Inverness, Fla. native opened with a two-under par 70 on Friday and also handed in a one-under par 71 in the final round en route to her second top five finish in as many tournaments this spring.
As a team at the JMU Invite, FGCU held a share of fourth place after Friday’s opening round 304 and dropped into a tie for 15th following Saturday’s second round 317. The Blue and Green came back with their best round of the tournament, 298, on Sunday, moving their final score to 920 (304-327-298) and finishing in two-way tie for 11th with host JMU.
