FORT MYERS, Fla. – Sophomore Georgia Price (Winchester, England/Fort Myers HS) and redshirt freshman Kristin Swindell (Bradenton, Fla./Braden River HS) of the FGCU women’s golf team have both received post season honors from the Atlantic Sun Conference, the league announced Monday. Price was named to the All-Conference second team squad while Swindell was a member of the All-Freshman team.

Price was named the All-Conference second team after recording six top-20 finishes this season, highlighted by winning the 2012 JU Courtyard Classic in Jacksonville, Fla. Oct. 15-16. At the 2013 Atlantic Sun Championship, the Winchester, England native placed 11th at the three-day event and was within the top four after the first two days of competition.

“I am so proud of Georgia on her nomination to the second team All-Conference. She has come so far since last year, maturing as a player, becoming more confident, and learning about the game,” said head coach Sarah Trew. “Her win at the JU courtyard classic gave her a ton of confidence and I think she's going to take that and get even better over the next couple years. If she continues to develop the passion she has for working at her game and the sky is the limit for her.”

Swindell was named to the All-Freshman team after a solid freshman campaign that saw the Brandenton, Fla. product have five top-30 finishes in six tournaments she participated in. Swindell was placed on the All-Tournament team after finishing in a tie for fourth at the 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.

“Kristin had a very successful freshman season.  She peaked at just the right time for us which is the mark of a good player,” said the second-year coach.  “She gave freshman of the year a good run and in the end got edged out by a little bit. She's very competitive and I think over the next two years she's only going to get better and better.”

The women’s golf team had a successful 2012-13 season, having seven top-10 finishes, capped off with a third-place finish at the 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.
