Hagerman Selected for Women's Golf South Regional
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Sophomore Heather Hagerman (New Port Richey, Fla.) was one of twelve individuals selected to participate in the 2006 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships South regionals the NCAA announced today.
Four regions compete in the women’s championships. The South regionals will be conducted May 1-2, hosted by the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida at the Stonebrook Golf Club.
Hagerman became the first women's golfer at FGCU to compete in an NCAA Championship event last year. She played in all eight events for Eagles in the 2004-05 campaign as a freshman. Hagerman last season placed 16th in the South Region tournament in Lakeland.
This season Hagerman has competed in all six events for FGCU and finished second at the UCF Spring Invitational with a two day score of 144. In 2004 she won the FSU Lady Seminole Invitational and finished second in two other tournaments. In her career so far at FGCU she has had nine top-10 finishes, including 7th at Rocky Mountain Invitational, where she had five birdies, second best overall in the event.
All participants will compete throughout the 54 holes of competition. The top two teams along with the top two individuals not with a team from each regional, will advance to the championships. The Finals will be held May 10-13, at Grand Valley State University in Allendale Michigan at The Meadows Golf Club.
