Tamarac, Fla. (March 27, 2007) - The #4 nationally ranked NSU Women's Golf program finished in third place, just 13 shots behind the leader, at the NSU Spring Classic. The tournament was held at the 6090 yard, par 72 Woodmont Country Club - Cypress Golf Course.
The Sharks shot a second round 316 to finish in third place in a tournament featuring nine ranked Division II schools, including five in the top 10 nationally, NJCAA #2 Daytona Beach C.C. and NAIA #18 Northwood University (FL).
#6 University of West Florida (613) fired a tournament best 300 in the second round on top of their 313 in the first round to lead the field. Day one leader Daytona Beach CC (617) finished four strokes back with a second round total of 308 to go along with their first round total of 309. Host #4 NSU (310-316-626) finished in third place, 13 shots off the lead. #3 Lynn University (311-318-629), #7 Barry University (314-318-632), and #6 Newberry College (337-311-648) followed.
#13 Pfeiffer University (325-325-650), #8 Florida Gulf Coast (326-328-654), #40 Florida Tech (330-330-660), Northwood University (351-331-682), #58 Saint Leo University (344-350-694), and Ashland University (368-346) rounded out the field.
Barry University's RemiJin Camping (77-73-150) took home medalist honors, winning a three player playoff on the first hole to top NSU's Lina Bjorklund (72-78-150) and Florida Tech's Stacey O'Hara (75-75-150). Camping entered the clubhouse with the low round of the second day of play.
Daytona Beach CC's Laura Lindsey (73-79-152), Pfeiffer's Brittany Beltran (72-80-152), and West Florida's Clara Fornella (77-75-152) each finished in a tie for fourth place in the final standings, just two strokes behind the leaders.
