SEBRING, Fla. - At the 2007 NIU Springlake Invitational hosted by Northen Illinois, the FGCU women's golf squad had three golfers finish in the top-ten and took the team title to win their second tournament of the season.
The 36-hole event was played on the 5,920 yard Par 72 Springlake Golf Resort and Country Club layout . The teams played 18 holes on Friday (Mar. 7) and a final 18 on Saturday (Mar. 8).
The Eagles recorded a composite team score of 633, which put the Eagles tied for first place with Lynn, during the tournament’s 36 holes.
Heather Hagerman was the Eagles' top finisher in the two-day event when she turned in a six-over 150. She shot a 71 in the first round of the tourney and finished tied for first place with Lynn's Maha Haddioui.
Katerina Toomalatai came in second on FGCU's scorecard with a two-round total of 158 (+14) which placed her sixth individually. Her best round of the event was a 75 on Friday. Amber Pedersen recorded a score of 160 (+16), placing her T-10th. Jessica Paulmann and Cassie Sherron rounded out FGCU's card by shooting 165 (+21) and 166 (+22), respectively. Paulmann finished 24th and Sherron finished T-25th.
The Eagles will be back in action on Mar. 13 at the EKU El Diablo Spring Invite in Citrus Springs, Fla.
