CITRUS SPRINGS, Fla. - Florida Atlantic carded a tournament-best 299 in Friday’s final round to capture the 2008 EKU El Diablo Intercollegiate championship, played at the par-72 El Diablo Golf and Country Club. Florida Gulf Coast and host Eastern Kentucky University rounded out the top three team positions.
Florida Atlantic’s Phol-uayporn saved the best for last in securing the individual medal. She followed a 73 in the first and second rounds with a tournament-low 71 on Friday to finished with a 217, seven shots better than FCGU's Heather Hagerman, who took second after finishing with a 224 (77-73-74).
The Eagles shot a 942 (324-312-306). In addition to Hagerman's top-5 finish, Amber Pederson (t-6th), Maria Venot (t-16th), Katerina Toomalatai (t-20th) and Jessica Paulmann (28th) also competed for the Eagles.
