FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU Women’s Golf team is currently in fourth place at the Atlantic Sun Championships in Deland, Florida.
After day one of the A-Sun Championships, FGCU currently sits in fourth place with a 305 only behind Stetson (298), Campbell (300), and East Tennessee State (301).
Pacing the Eagles on the day were sisters Kastania and Katerina Toomalatai who finished ninth and 13th in the field of 50 participants. Kastania Toomalatai shot a first round 75 (+3) while Katerina Toomalatai shot a first round 76 (+4).
FGCU’s coach Brittany Bertilson was pleased with her team’s performance in round one. “I believe our team played well today, we work all season leading up to this point of the year and our first round scores prove that our girl’s hard work pays off.”
“I know our team has raised their level of play when we are able to drop a 79”. The Eagle’s total score of 305 is their lowest of the season.
The Eagles are poised to advance up the leader board during day two of action at the Atlantic Sun Championships which will continue tomorrow as Kennesaw State and USC Upstate tee off at 8 a.m.
