FORT MYERS, Fla. – Senior captain Amber Pedersen was selected as Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Month for February, as announced by the conference office on Friday. This marks the first time in the history of the program that an FGCU women’s golfer has earned such recognition.
“In her second year as captain, Amber has matured into a very focused golfer,” said head women’s golf coach Brittany Bertilson. “She works hard at the consistency of her game every day and is always looking for areas of improvement. I am very proud of Amber for her achievements, both academically, and on the golf course.”
As one of three Eagles to place in the top 25, Pedersen (St. Petersburg, Fla.) took 15th out of 60 participants with a 157 (80-77), helping FGCU open the spring season with a 5th place finish at the 2010 JU Classic in Jacksonville. Fla. on Tuesday, February 23rd.
The Eagles will tee up again on Sunday, March 7, as they travel back to Jacksonville, Fla. for the James Madison University Eagle Landing Invitational.
