Eagles Fine-Tune in Match Play Scrimmage

ALVA, Fla. - The FGCU women’s golf team participated in a match play scrimmage with Western Illinois University at River Hall Golf Club in Alva, Fla. on Monday afternoon. As a team, the Eagles were a combined 6-up on the Leathernecks as the day came to a close.

The Eagles were coming off a seventh place finish on the 17-team leaderboard at the 2010 JMU-Eagle Landing Invitational at Oakleaf Plantation in Jacksonville, Fla. after turning in a combined 916 (305-302-309) on March 9. As individuals, senior Amber Pedersen (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and freshman Briana Carlson (Inverness, Fla.) finished in a four-way tie for seventh place overall with a 224, (77-71-76) and (75-75-74) respectively.

The Blue and Green will hit the fairways again on March 26th when they travel to Crystal River, Fla. for the UC Spring Invitational. The Eagles finished 9th of 17 at the UC Spring Invitational in 2009 and 5th of 12 in their first appearance in 2008.
