Florida Gulf Coast University Director of Athletics Ken Kavanagh announced the hiring of University of Kansas assistant coach Sarah Trew as the new head women's golf coach on Thursday. With the Jayhawks, Trew assisted with producing four team tournament championships and a program-best fifth-place finish at the 2009 Big 12 Conference Championship.

With top five finishes in seven tournaments this year, including all five spring competitions and one medalist honor, FGCU sophomore Briana Carlson was a unanimous selection to the Atlantic Sun Women's Golf All-Conference first team, announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Moving up the final leaderboard with their best round of the tournament, the FGCU women's golf team fired a 303 on Wednesday to finish in a share of third place at the 2011 A-Sun Conference Championship. With her highest finish of the spring, junior Fabienne Haremza finished in second place overall, sitting just five strokes off the leader.

A former University of Iowa standout, Spero will replace Brittany Bertilson, who announced her resignation on May 3 after two successful seasons.
