Local Pat Bradley Invitational up Next for Women's Golf

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU women’s golf team will take to the course for the second time this month as it competes in the 34th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational, hosted by FIU at the Pelican Preserve Golf Club in Fort Myers, Fla. The tournament gets underway with the opening round on Sunday morning beginning at 9 a.m.

The Pelican Preserve complex’s 18-hole course plays 6,850 yards from the back tees for a par of 72, a slope of 134 and a course rating of 73.2. The course was designed by Chip Powell and opened for play in 2002.

The tournament’s 15-team field will have the Eagles competing against Bethune-Cookman, Boston College, Bradley, Cincinnati, Daytona State College, Delaware, Drake, Eastern Michigan, FAU, FIU, North Texas, Southern Miss, Stetson and Western Illinois.

At last year’s event, the Eagles finished in eighth place among the 15 teams. Holding eighth place heading into the final day of the event after firing rounds of 308 and 302 in the opening two rounds of play, the Eagles continued to improve their team score in the final round, with a 301 for a three-day total of 911.

Representing the Green and Blue will be senior Fabienne Haremza (Wildermen, South Africa/Glenwood House/Lamar University), junior Cassie Cleary (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte HS/Daytona State College), and freshmen Chelsea Guoynes (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City Central HS), Georgia Price (Winchester, England/Fort Myers HS) and Kristin Swindell (Bradenton, Fla./Braden River HS).

In their last outing at the nine-team USF-Waterlefe Invitational in Bradenton, Fla., the Eagles finished the event in a three-way split for fourth place with a team score of 319-304-317/940. In the 45-player field, the Green and Blue were led by freshmen Guoynes and Swindell, who placed in ties for 13th and 17th, respectively, with corresponding scores of 82-76-76/234 and 79-76-80/235.

The 34th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational is set to play one round each morning from Sunday to Tuesday. Results and recaps from the event will be available at www.FGCUAthletics.com following each round.
