FORT MYERS, Fla. – In its final tune-up before the 2012 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, the FGCU women’s golf team will travel to the Marsh Landing Intercollegiate, hosted by Jacksonville, at the Marsh Landing Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla. The tournament gets underway with 36 holes on Monday and concludes with a final round on Tuesday.
The Eagles will take to the course with eight other schools, including Brown, Cal Poly, FAU, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, NIU, Stetson and USC Upstate.
Leading FGCU into the competition is senior Fabienne Haremza (Wilderman, South Africa/Glenwood House/Lamar University), who has been the Eagles’ top finisher in five of the eight tournaments this year. Rounding out the four-member Green and Blue squad at the competition is sophomore Megan Van Etten (Trinity, Fla./J.W. Mitchell HS), and the freshmen duo of Georgia Price (Winchester, England/Fort Myers HS) and Chelsea Guoynes (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City Central HS).
In their last outing at the UC Spring Invitational, the Eagles finished in 15th among the 19 teams with a score of 313-330-315/958, as Price placed in a share of 25th individually with a 77-79-75/231.
The Marsh Landing Intercollegiate will provide one last competition before the Eagles head to the A-Sun Championship. This year’s championship will be held from April 9-11 at the Venetian Bay Country Club in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
